10!
Did a little town driving today and saw nine Vanagons (includes mine)
and one Bay windowed westy, it was a nice day.
We started off driving into Olympia,WA on 101 from Shelton (around a
20 mile trip). We were south bound and a white Vanagon (1) was headed
north, he didn't wave.
We continued until 101 ends at I-5 and then we went north a few miles
on the interstate, got off at Pacific and stopped so my 15 yo
daughter could 'shop' at Ross. No Vanagons :-(
From there we went up the road maybe 1/4 mile to Home Depot and saw
a blue Vanagon (2) in the HD parking lot. I didn't park next to it as
I don't do that any more... (I'm not spare parts & don't want to
tempt anyone again). I left HD and stopped at the Cash & Carry for a
gallon of ranch dressing, as I left that parking lot I saw the HD VW
(2) making a left onto Pacific, I honked the horn but I guess he
didn't hear. I turned right on Pacific and went down to Harbor
Freight ( a breaker bar for the lug nuts on my son's car, I already
have one in my Vanagon). On the way out of the HF parking lot I saw a
bicycle shop & stopped to get a tire for my bike, $16 for a cheap
imported tire.... You cannot buy a bike tire in Shelton anymore. From
there it was back to I-5 heading south to the downtown Olympia exit
(a mile of so) and head for State street, take a left and follow it
along until we get to Capital Mall, my daughter wanted to go to some
'specific' stores at the mall. While in Olympia on State street
before we crossed the bridge we saw another Vanagon (3), It was brown
and had round headlights. I did not wave or honk this time, there was
something going on at the Olympia waterfront and it was really
crowded, I was driving.
As we got out of that part of Olympia and headed up State street
there was a red Vanagon (4) parked in front of a business (State St
had changed to Harrison by that time) on a side street. My daughter
saw it and spoke, I saw it in the rear view mirror. A nice looking red too.
No Vanagons noted at the part of the Capital Mall parking lot I saw.
After we left the mall I continued on Harrison, it changes again to
Mud Bay. Down by where Mud Bay runs into 101 there is a bakery (I
can't remember the name, good food and coffee). There are always
Vanagons parked there, they work or own the place of something, I
never asked. Anyway there were 4 parked there today... I had to think
about counting them or not and figured what the heck? (5),(6),(7),(8).
On the way back to Shelton we saw the bay westy heading south (9).
When we got home I saw #10 sitting in my driveway <g>.
