Let me re-phrase the question.

Not saying this is the case but...

If leak were at a brake hydraulic component, and this brought fluid level down below level of braided hose, wouldn't there be enough fluid in braided hose connecting fluid reservoir to clutch MC, and in clutch MC and hydraulics itself, to keep clutch hydraulics working properly?

i.e. since the clutch stopped working, we can almost be certain that the leak was at a component of the clutch hydraulics.
