Greg, thanks for the tip. Yes, tires being new did contribute to the traction problem I had. When the tires got older it improved a bit. However, they are still more likely to skid than the Michelins on my 84. When the tires are near the end of their service life the traction will turn worse too. All tires are not created equal. Proper tires for Vanagon are harder to find these days.
