Hi all Decided to pull the 85 vanagon westi into the shed to take a look at the Hissing when pressing very hard on the brakes. Here is what I found and not sure if it is one thing or 2, So here is the issues

- Vacuum is Sustained in the system during and after motor is shut off. No Loss of Vacuum untill Brake pedal is Depressed. - When Depressing Brake Pedal lighly there is Nothing and it is quite. Press hard and It will hiss. The harder you press the louder it hisses. - Pulled the dash pod to get a better look at the issue. seem there is some wettness under the surface to where the Master cyl and the booster are connected - Wiped wettness from area depressed Brakes and saw a small stream of fluid Escaping the system. Fluid is still at max level in Resvoir. ( Bad Master Cyl. ) - Put vacuum on the system to locate hiss but still could not nail down. Could it be with the Bad Master it is hissing at the Base seal? - Bus still stops fine but with a leak it needs to be replaced. - Ive got 2 spare Boosters but dont know time it takes to R/R. Anyone done a Booster swap and kept track of time? - Also on a side note recently when you press the brake down coming to a stop the motor will rev to 1100 rpm. Is this the Leaking booster letting air to the motor? to allow it to reb a bit? I will usually drop back down to std idle once to a complete stop and only Lightly holding the brake.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be great. Ive got to fix this and the Ebrake cables so we can go to the Bus Boo in a few weeks.

Thanks Jonce
