Yeah I was able to find the emails I have from the original rescue effort,
but not those from when he had to give it up (of course the archives weren't
working...).

I had it in my head that he was in Illinois or some such. It's entirely
possible I'm confusing two different issues, tho. : )

Of course all of that brings up the question of where they are now, and why
hasn't somebody else picked up on the project. There was a great deal of
interest expressed at the time, but much of that may have been aimless
enthusiasm.
