I concur, regarding the 2.3L 10v fivers. They're rugged and quite possibly in the top five for VAG's all-time most durable engines. Not to say that they're perfect, but they certainly deserve respect. And best, is that they're a non-interference design, so catastrophic failure is less likely than their V6 replacements. I dig em.
