Well, after thorough reading in my Haynes manual (European models only, with approximate wiring diagrams) as well as cross referencing many sources, I concluded that my 2.1 1990 Digijet is some weird combination of the US Digijet and Digifant models - It has a Digijet ECU, whereas the ECU is responsible only for fuel injection (while the ignition is generated directly by by the signal from the hall sender in the distributor and the coil driver circuit, with ignition advance done by vacum feedback into the distributor mechanism which moves the hall sender relative to the rotor), as opposed to the digifant system where both the fuel injection as well as ignition are handled by the ECU. The quirk is that my Digijet system has an Idle Stabilizer Control unit (ISCU) and Idle stabilization valve on top of the motor just like the US digifant models, that set idle by adjusting air supply to the engine, while the US Digijets (up until 1985) had a different ISCU that work on a different concept, by modulating the hall generated ignition pulses (and not the air) to set the idle - it's those units that you can bypass by disconnecting the connecters and joing them together.

Yup, I'd like to see, although we do have 98 Octane, although due to the prices I'd rather tune the engine to 96 Octane (mentioned in the Bentley IIRC) and avoid the detonations.
