Looking through all these handsome and lovely faces confirms a suspicion of mine: there's a preponderance of white, middle-aged males on this list (myself included), and maybe among Vanagon drivers in general. Once in a long while, here in the SF Bay Area, I do see an African American driving a Westy, but I sure haven't seen many. Any thoughts as to why these vehicles would appeal to this particular demographic group almost exclusively? If Vanagons are really the coolest things on wheels, which of course they are, then why isn't their appeal demographically broader? BTW, I purchased my Westy from a gay man and wife (they so identified themselves) with two black toddler children. That's San Francisco. |
