Second set of questions What kind or brand of oil filter do you have installed? Some brands available at the FLAPS will have a presure relief spring that is too low for the Vanagon. Trace and check the wiring from the pressure sensor to the connector on the firewall. The wire runs right past some very hot components and it could be grounding out. It could be corroded as well....but that is only in NY.... you are OK in TX. Should be 20w-50 or synthetic equal like 15w-50. What is the fill level? Top mark is too high. How hot is the engine running? Use infrared thermometer on case. 200-210 max. What is the idle speed? In gear. 850-900. Next it is possible to have a bad switch or better yet, the wire is frayed somewhere and shorting out turning on the light. Next step is to check the oil pressure with a gauge. Oil level is good, rasing the RPM's ever so slightly makes it go away, as does putting it in park and letting it idle. Any ideas?
