Could be the oil pump, but then Vanagons are notorious for low idle oil light flickering. USe 20-50 wt oil.

I had a Vanagon that had a flickering idle light and the shop that tested it concluded that everything was OK- the pressure switch was OK, etc.

I switched to the heavier 20-50 and it went a way.
