Come on now, " completely wrong oil ", lets not overstate it. 20w50 is the oil weight recommended right in the owners manual for my 87 when outside temps are consistently exceeding 70 degrees F, along with 15w50. 10w40 is listed for colder temps up till 70 degrees. If you choose to use 10w40, go ahead, it will not make the engine explode in any case. My wife and I have had superb engine life and good fuel economy and are over a million miles of driving mostly German vehicles using mostly Mobil 1, 15w50.
