As long as 20-50 works for me and puts the flickering oil light out I'm fine.

I'm not going to rebuild the engine unless there is no other choice ( I sell Vanagons). If the shop tests it and tell me the oil pressure is good and they put a new switch and the light still flickers and the buzzer goes off, I am still going to use the 20 -50 oil.

In fact , I have been using 20-50 oil in my inline -four Jetta engine since I installed 7 years ago. It has 220,000 miles on it.

An engine is not a houseplant . You don't have to nourish it with special blends. You just have to make sure you change the oil at regular intervals and keep the oil level topped up.

In fact- I have been using Wal-Mart oil for 5 years .

Inevitably a discussion about the oil light flickering or buzzer going off starts with a scientist's 10 page dissertation and begins to finish with members like me ranting about the virtues of Wal-Mart 20-50. The price!!
