I think I understand it somewhat better now. The range of motion of a cv joint is really determined by the openings in the ball cage. The balls move in the slots if the joint is extended or bent. Once the balls hit the end of the slot the joint can't bend any more or extend any more. It seems that this is really a problem that is a combination of extension and angle. Both joints will go much farther than 22 deg when in center position. So where is the axle riding? Inner joint all the way extended, outer joint all the way pushed in or somewhere in the middle? I'd think the friction in a joint will increase the faster the balls travel, that is the more it is extended or bent. So I guess it'll push the axles somehwere to the middle if both joints are worn and lubricated the same. Man this is much more complicated than I thought. Reinhard
