Great(!) as a backup for the EPROM, but can you assert that no code is hidden inside the CPU (microcontroller) internal program storage?

Those Euro Digijets might not have monitored that O2 input at all, and just optimised for power output. Did you check if connecting O2 sensor affected them at all?

Exactly. So they probably ignore it, although I can assert this since I haven't checked. Maybe Daryl would know.
