I have felt your pain, too. Do not take it out on the table, though. The
problem is a push-to-open, push-to-lock system that tends to stay in the
lock mode. The dealer replaced ours shortly after we bought our used '88
Wolfy from them, and it went permanent lock-mode in short order.

So, get some strong rare earth magnets and steel plates from an old hard
drive, or a list vendor if one has them, and put the plate on the table
(avoids erasure of magnetic materials), and the magnet attached to the wall.


Works like a charm ever since then.

Hi nice folks

My 88 Vanagon Wolfsburg which has a table on the sidewall in the cabin will
not open. By kicking the bottom of the table while hanging along the side,
should open it, but no matter how many times I've cajoled it with soft and
hard whacks, it doesn't respond.
