Ambient temperature refers to the temps in a defined area. Do you want
to know the temp in the shade, or in full sun, or in the area of the
driver's seat, under the van, or  in the rear of the van? I think you
have to decide that first, and then the choice will be obvious, but just
wanting the ambient temperature, without choosing what ambient you wish
to measure, cannot be accomplished.
