I think the most useful purpose I've found my I/O thermometer to be used for was to find out just how effective the "thermal barrier" blanket that Richard Jones "invented", and I copied. A minimum of 8 degrees difference (warmer) under that fleece blanket vs above it with no heater running, and up to 30 degrees with heater running, and I turned it off because I was getting too stuffy/warm. I recall the outside reading 35, inside 65 UNDER THE THERMAL BARRIER with the pop top up. It's been in the high teens outside and in the low 50's under the blanky. Fleece works.
