I think the rich/lean thing has been sorted out. I have not said anything for three reasons.

Reason 1. I need to put a few more miles on the new plugs to make sure that the fix "took."

Reason 2. I was so certain that the right and left intake runners were tight against the heads that I didn't even check. I should have -- the lean side intake manifold bolts were not tight. Tightened them and all four new plugs are looking like they are igniting proper mixtures. A IR thermometer was discovered and it indicated that all four exhaust pipes are the same temp coming out the heads. All indications are that I had an air leak, as so many suggested.

Reason 3. I knew I would look like a numbskull for not having checked the bolts right away, and for claiming that they were tight.

This may not have had any effect on my mileage, which was the take-off point for this investigation. But that's for after this upcoming camping trip. I'll have plugs to look at and miles and gallons numbers to crunch.
