It's not heat that's the problem, but the difference between using 700
mA to drive 3 high power LEDs in series, and 2.1A to drive them
individually. That's the difference between 71 hours and 24 hours of
battery life when using a 50AH Optima 34 battery, not even considering
other powered devices.
