Tonight I installed the right rear shoulder belt from a late model passenger van in my '88 Westy. Very straightforward using the dimensions in Bentley for cutting into the panels. Only snag was drilling out rivets on the rear most snaps to remove the panel, but I replaced with SS screws. Anyway, I also have the left rear, and have seen several pictures at Gowesty showing how the rear closet can be cut to allow the belt to go through. Does anyone happen to have the details on where the cuts should be, etc.? Bentley suggests it might be possible to remove the left rear cupboard without first removing the upper cupboard? This looks tricky - is it better to just pull the upper one first? Thanks. Shawn Wright http://members.shaw.ca/vwdiesels '88 Westy 1.6TD 5 speed '85 Jetta Diesel 1.6NA |
