mike: the post below may be right on. sounds like a roughly 100 mA draw, which would be easy to measure. with a 12 V system, this implies something like a 100 ohm resistance, which is a relatively low grade short. i'm very curious to see how this is resolved, because i have an almost identical situation ongoing with a 16 year old non-vanagon vehicle. dan
