My local outdoor/camping store has a tent repair kit that comes with 2 color canvas patches and canvas cement. The tan color it comes with matches my tent almost exactly. I found that it works pretty well.

My westy has about a 2-inch vertical tear on the driver's side next to the poptop hinge. I'm theorizing that the hinge tore it due to worn elastic sewn in the rear corner of the tent. It looks as if the elastic is designed to pull the tent inward from the hinges during lowering of the top, but that's mostly a guess.

Anyway, it's the original tent, and it looks as if it could be patched somehow. There's plenty of room on all sides for a patch.

Does anyone have tips for this? I've tried the archives and can't get to the search page for some reason. Do I just find some comparable material and start sewing?
