Subject: Dash warning lights?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Windows-1252"

Hi, from what I find searching, I am not too clear on the operation of the dash idiot lights I've been seeing all too much of these past few days.

Right now, I am running without a working alternator, having recently had it begin to fail (flickering , then full time Alternator/O2 sensor indicator lights, engine running) After messing around with the alternator, the Voltage regulator/brush pack (if my terms aren't exactly right, I hope they are understandable) and swapping all kinds of batteries in and out to get back home, I have a new alternator coming tomorrow. But right now, when I turn on the key, the indicator lights for the alternator and the 02 sensor do NOT illuminate. Before I started messing around with the alternator and the brushes, the ignition switch activated the warning (idiot) lights when in the on position but without engine running. Then my alternator warning and 02 sensor warning lights would briefly remain on after engine start until I moved the rams up one time...that would 'unlight' them. Right now, I no longer get any lighting of those two..All the remaining warning lights (Oil P., Seat belt, E-brake, turn signal, high beam) they work as they should. So did I mess up a circuit that activates the preliminary lighting up of the Alternator and O2 sensor indicators? Or when I replace my faulty Alternator/Voltage regulator will those lights resume working?
