You don't need to remove the entire panel, just the area towards the rear. Remove the rear vent on the door if you have one (two screws I think) and then gently pull on the panel - you can use a putty knife or similar to find the panel clips, that pull out easily once you get a feel for it.

If you are going to do these sorts of projects you really should buy the Bentley workshop manual, I find it very helpful for understanding how things are put together, so I can take them apart.
