Subject: second '86 rear-facing seat in my '86 weekender
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Against all good judgment, I've purchased a second copy of the same stock rear-facing seat currently in my '86 weekender, to mount behind the front passenger seat. Why do this rather than use a more recent jump seat?, you may well ask. Well... 1. I like keeping things as stock as possible, so I didn't want to get rid of the original rear-facing seat and put in two jump seats. 2. I didn't want to mix and match seats, so I didn't want to put in a single carat jump seat to go with the original rear-facing seat. 3. I like the storage under the stock seats.

I want to mount this second seat with some kind of (relatively) quick-release bolts, so I can approximate the easy removal feature of the jump seat for more stowage space when I want it.

So, my questions are: 1. Has anyone on the list done anything like this? 2. Any advice on how to do it, especially the quick-release feature? 3. Any thoughts on how to deal with the fact that, for a passenger-side seat, the magazine compartment is on the wrong side, and the other side needs to be covered in some way?

Also, feel free to try to talk me out of this strange plan.

Thanks, Jeff
