While fixing the central locking (thanks everyone!) I also used sail tape to get the panel edges looking good again.

It basically double sided tape about 6mm wide... you can follow tight curves and it sticks on foam and fabric. It's great for making stuff out of polytarp too.

CH-ASV3 - 0.5 mil polyester film coated on both sides with 3 mils of an ultra high peel acrylic adhesive. Designed to immediately adhere to most types of sail materila and Sunbrella without head assist. Used by many sailmakers to seam spinnakers without sewing. 3/8" wide - 60 yards per roll.
