Sorry if this gets posted twice. I initially sent it a couple of hours ago and it still hasn't hit the list.

Mike

Kyle,

2.1 heads will work on a 1.9 but you must put both of the same type on your engine. With 2.1 heads you will have slightly less compression.

A 2.1 engine will work in a van that originally had a 1.9 but you must remove the oil cooler and use all the 1.9 stuff from your old engine. See:

http://www.oldvolkshome.com/19to21.htm

You can get heads from places like BusDepot:

or Vanagain:

Exterior sliding door handles for '80~'84 (longer than later years) are hard to find (NLA most places) and, unless you're lucky, aren't cheap. A handle for '85~'91 can be used but you must cut off the part that extends toward the body a bit or it will drag.

BusDepot has new sun visors. $19.00 for the driver's side and $74.00 for the passenger side. Several listmembers may have a used one.

http://www.busdepot.com/details.jsp?partnumber=251857551A In the text they say they have the passenger side, too.

Full camper Westies came with two tables. The front one (the bracket for the leg is at the rear of the driver's seat base) is smaller. The rear one's leg fits down into a hole in the cabinet to the rear of the stove unit. The mountings and legs for '80~'84 are different from those used on '85~'91s. Several online vendors "May" have these but you're likely to find used ones.

If you have the middle seat, it slides in and out on rails. There are M8 screws or bolts that may be holding it down. When removed, there are covers that screw to the tracks making the floor even. If you don't have the covers, they can be made by either bending metal or using plywood. I was missing a couple of the screws for mine so I ground the heads round on a couple of M8 bolts. There were still enough of the flats remaining to put a wrench on but the sharp edges of the bolt heads were gone.

In that your Westy has the brown and tan paint, is it a "Wolfsburg" edition? If so, it'll have most of the interior appointments of an '85. The sliding door and the table mounts will still be of the earlier type, though.

Just below the front seats is a lever (ring sticking out) that you depress while starting to swivel the seats.

Your question about SS hardware for the pop top has already been answered.

The upper bunk was designed to safely hold 2 adults. It's really stout but I don't know the actual weight capacity.

Hope this helps,

Mike Houlton, Maine
