It takes a bit--or more than a bit--of work, but I've been mounting gauges above the rear view mirror. http://tinyurl.com/yraf93 It helps to have the dash out in order to run the wires up the A pillar.

I've also mounted them on the dash pod using a 6 pin Deutsch connector from MSD for easy removal. http://tinyurl.com/2mbvkb
