Subject: Speaking of the Wing Vent Window

A few years ago, when I purchased my latest Westy, I had the pleasure of only one day's trouble free ownership when some S.O.B. smashed my passenger side wing vent window when he broke into the van. I immediately bought a new glass and dropped it in; however it has been whistling ever since. I have used electrical tape over the leading edge to cover the gap between the glass and the rubber. I am tired of the inconvenience of the tape and having figured out that the glass won't close all the way because the bottom 'PIN' was slightly bent inward during the break-in, I want to bend it out again but am afraid that either it might be made of a cast material and subsequently break or it might enlarge/warp the hole in the door where it is attached. In either case the problem compounds. Can anyone tell me what I am likely to find if I do bend the hinge back out to a more useful position. Is it hard to replace if broken? Will the door sheet metal fracture? I have tried silicone seal, adding extra padding to the rubber seal, and of course the electrical tape. Thank you all for any ideas. Regards! David (dsl82westy)
