or you can use a trans jack, they lower to a few inches off the ground and roll right out from under the van.

Zoltan Kuthy <zolo@FOXINTERNET.NET> wrote: Well, I write Zoltan because I havn't seen or heard anyone to do it the same way. Here goes in a few words;

I raise the car just so the wheels are off the ground with the help of the original Jack and rest it on the frame with adjustables jacks. Then undo all the goodies around the engine to be able to lower it. Have all the bolts and nuts taken out that hold the transmission, EXcept one at the bottom.

(I have a unit made up out of 2x4s that holds a little hand operated winch I bought at Harbor Freight)

Now, I have a short CHAIN attached to the engine lifter holes in that are in the middle on top. Have the chain TIGHT to hold the engine up, Now take out the two bolts and nuts each end of the engine support, Lower the engine onto a DRIP TRAY, about the size of 3x2 feet, that already has some ropes attached to for pulling. You would pull the engine out SIDE way. (The rear is lower.)

To work on, I use an engine stand, also from Harbor Freight, with a BELL HOUSING attached. Without being able to turn the engine freely, you would take a week longer and get frustrated badly. To lift the engine up, I use a little chain hoist on a galley I made up from 2x6s, just hight enough. Which I take apart after and store away.

To reinstall the engine with the winch on the 2x4s is the most easier.
