Subject: Centrifugal Advance problems
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

I have an 81 air cooled vanagon (non Californian). The vacuum advance works fine. The problem is that I am not getting any centrifugal advance. I verified this by shinning the timing light with the vacuum line to the distributor removed. When I rev the engine, the timing mark does not advacne. In fact it changes from about 8 to 7 on my scaled.

I imagine the weights are froze. My Bentlies does not cover the dis-assembly of the non Californian distributor. Does any one have a procedure, or experience in taking the distributor apart?

Thanks,

Tony
