As the person who wrote the Ferrari article pointed out, racing conditions have nothing in common with ordinary driving because of the extremely high temperatures involved. In racing, you're flooring it almost all the time, which produces oil temps 100 degrees or so above maximum around-town driving, which in turn makes the oil much thinner. It could very well be that M1 fails at racing temps but is fine for everyday driving. Starting to sound like BobIsTheOilGuy here. |
