Hi all...I'm having a time passing the emissions testing this year. Get through easily for the past ten, but this time around........I've not passed twice in a row. first test failed on excess CO at idle; all emissions(Hydrocarbons, NOx CO ) were significantly higher than the previous year. replaced plugs rotor cap, set the timing. second test: emissions down from the first test, but failed on CO2 at idle and CO on the driving test. something is not right. huh. Engine is an inline 1800cc with CIS. Hall effect ignition. I'm thinking of pulling the injectors and replacing them, and changing the airfilter too ( duh why didn't I do that before???????). One thing that's concerning me is that the idle isn't rock solid- it varies by 50-100rpm above the 800 mark. Vacuum leak somewhere perhaps? Suggestions on the above? I know it's a bit of an unusual set up engine, but what I'm looking for here is the general experienced-with-engines feedback that this list can be soooooo good at - and if there's someone out there who's got gobs of 50 degree VanagonI4 experience, I'd really appreciate your insight.
