Subject: Air Cooled Exhaust Spacers Available
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
Howdy List,
I have an extra set of exhaust spacers available. The spacers allow you to
run a 70's muffler on an air cooled vanagon without mounting issues. I
assume other folks have found their own solution but I wanted something that
was easy to install and that placed the muffler exactly in the right place
and these spacer blocks were the first thing that came to mind. They were
made for me at a local machine shop and work great. The exhaust ports were
line bored to match the inner diameter of the gasket that I got at bus depot
and the steel that was used is a heat-treated low carbon mild steel
which will be able to withstand the heat extremes without issue. The mating
surfaces were trued and finished etc. etc. I ended up with two pairs after
being way off on the thickness in my first specifications (motor out of van)
and when I got the proper thickness dialed in there was enough material to
make two sets. If anyone is interested buying my extra set I would like to
get $150 + shipping for them as I paid $300 to have the two sets made.
