Chris, 3/16" nylon braid worked really well for my rear hatch window. I also like Paul's idea of using Wurth Rubber Care instead of soapy water. I just don't like the idea of trapping water in the seal and the Rubber Care product might be more beneficial to the rubber than soap.

I found the hardest part of the whole operation was putting the seal on the window before installation. The rope pulled out really smoothly with a helper applying pressure from the outside.
