Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Maybe it's a 24V or even 48V alternator. Get more watts for fewer amps with about the same amount of copper. That's always the big problem with 12V. If you're powering (say) a 1200W microwave off a 12V inverter, you're pulling 100 amps out of the alternator, at which point you better have a #6 or even #4 copper conductor! From their vague range of horsepower loss in the FAQ, it seems their unit can pump out somewhere between 3 and 8 KILOWATTS. Yeah, just a wild guess, but I bet they're running a higher voltage. Maybe even full voltage but DC?
