There is no such thing as Non OEM Intake Boots (yet). The Intake Boot carried by the List Vendors is the same as what is purchased for considerably more (usually) at the dealer. Support your List Vendor instead.

A repro of the Air Cooled and Water Cooled Vanagon Intake boot is in the works, but is stalled right now because of that insidious Italian disease - mafundzalo (lack of $$$ for production).

Generally speaking, Intake Runner Pipes do not usually go bad, but the hoses attaching them to the Center Plenum can crack and eventually leak. Replace if suspect. Check the Throttle Body to Plenum seal too. Both are easily available:
