Yes. I guess that is just a habit that I have adopted that forces me to pay attention to the oil itself. I also use a magnetic band that goes around the filter that will hopefully hold any metallic particles in place rather than allowing them to circulate and do damage. Some use a magnetic drain plug but I don't feel that the waterboxer engine is deep enough without having an actual oil pan for this to work. To each his own I suppose and as always YMMV.
