Well, since it is already cracked so maybe breaking it is the way to go. I will tape the windshield all over both sides and use a hammer to further cracking it. Then I will push it from inside toward the front.

Is this the way to do it?

Don't hit it with a hammer for goodness sake!

To remove , push the windscreen from inside the van by sitting on the seats and pushing up and out with your legs & feet (in shoes of course). If it is still being recalcitrant and you are not intending to re-use the seal (I wouldn't) you can aid removal by cutting away the inside of the lip on the seal with a sharp knife....although if you use gentle but firm constant pressure with you legs, the screen will pop out. Obviously it prudent to have a second person on the outside to catch the screen as it pops out but not entirely necessary if you don't care about the screen....
