RE: Would we email each other about the danger of travel in the U.S. or even a specific state or city after someone was robbed in a dangerous area? I think we would not. In fact we do just that, or have in the past when there has been a defined threat in a defined place. An example a couple of years ago was a serial rapist that had hit more than once at an I-5 rest stop used by many WetWesties members here in the NW. But the info posted was specific, not a generality about all rest stops along I-5 and was based on specific, current incidents. In the same vain we post to the list about stolen Vanagons, not saying anything about crime rate in a certain area but in attempt to recover stolen vehicles. Specific and timely warnings about known conditions or circumstances seem to be appropriate as opposed glittering generalities. |
