Some years ago four Swedes took off in a 70's VW bus with the aim to circumnavigate Eurasia. After going through Europe, Turkey, Iran (very nice they said) Pakistan (a bit sketchy), they got as far as India and Nepal. However the Chinese authorities refused entry of the bus into China. Figurig they could store the bus a while in Nepal, they left for some train travel in China and Tibet. Unfortunately when they came back the bus was gone. So they had to continue train tripping all the way back. Fast forward a few years, (past Goran Kropp and Renata Schlumskas bike trip from Sweden to Nepal), another couple sets out to circumnavigate Eurasia: http://www.dreamtrip.se/dreamtrip/ This time in a more unlikely vehicle chioce, a SAAB 900. However they did graft a camper top onto it. Apart from occasional waits at customs and brushings with bureacrats the whole trip seems enjoyable. And they made it into China! First report I've heard of a foreigner making it there with their own vehicle. Martin
