I have recently purchased an 82 air cooled vanagon L. It blows a little blue smoke. I checked the compression, and it is as follows: Cylinder 1 100 psi Cylinder 2 90 psi Cylinder 3 85 psi Cylinder 4 90 psi The Bentley manual says minimum of 73psi with a max range of 40psi. So the compression is ok right? If the compression is ok, then I should not be getting oil in the cylinder due to the rings. I imagine that the valve guides are worn, and oil comes into the cylinder via the intake valve. Does anyone have a good way to check the vale guides?
Thanks,
Tony
