I have not but my hand over the throttle listening for rushing air yet. I will do that when I get home. I went through and took the whole intake boot/aircleaner and all the vac. lines off and started fresh with the diagram in front of me. I took off the throttle body and checked the gasket at the plenum. I put a new gasket and goop around the oil tower base and tightened it down. The intake boto has a small crack that I have sealed up. I put everything back together tight and correct and it still won't run. I even marked the distributor where it was and then tried changing the timing a bit to see. Next up I think will be another valve adjustment. In reading the archives I have seen where "no idle" problems after rebuilds have sometimes been attributed to valves not adjusted properly.

The hunt contines.

Your motor can't run at 3000 RPM without being able to breathe in a fair bit of air, so you've missed something.

The fact that it is sustaining combustion at 3000 RPM says that the air is being mixed with fuel. This should help you to narrow down the source.

Did you try any of the methods I suggested earlier? On 10/9/07, Brendan Slevin <brendan@bellatazza.com > wrote: So all my vac lines are correct. All intake rubber is clamped, sealed, tight. I cannot figure out why Totoro won't idle or stay running. I tried starting it with the AFM disconnected to see if that changed anything. It did. It started and surged up to about 3000 rpm and stayed there and ran fairly well. As soon as I start it with the AFM hooked up it doesn't idle. It seems like I have a huge air leak, but I really don't think I do. I didn't disturb the idle stabilizer. other than disconnecting the vac lines from the intake. It is all back toether correctly. It is very strange. I seem to have a small exhaust leak at the first cyl where the head pipe bolts to the head. Could this have anything to do with my problem. I feel as though I am in the dark without a Bentley.
