Ed,

Your earlier overheating problems may have affected some of the vacuum / coolant and possibly electrical lines or sensors, and maybe your head gasket! Have you checked your coolant / oil for contamination? I would suggest doing a leak-down test to see if you have proper compression. Then if you do, check all your vacuum lines to make sure that none of these are cracked at the ends, thus loosing vacuum; a good thing for all of us to do from time to time, and a leading cause of idle problems.

My 84 auto starts and idles fine but if you try to accelerate it bogs down and you can here it popping back thru the air intake.

What should I be checking to fix this?

Ed
