I'm in the same boat.. sort of. I needed extra 2'' clearance to fit into the garage. I considered H&R springs and passed them up due to harsh ride. I looked for Carat passenger springs which would lower my '84 but could not find any. It's not going to happen, so I gave up and bought the house. The van is parked outside. It just so happens that it fits in the parking garage at my job, so I'll use that as my parking facility in the near future.

Chris.

My wife measured the height of about a dozen garage doors in Cincinnati last weekend and I have had landlords measure a few more for me. They are all coming in at 77-78". This is the height of the opening in the front of the garage, so regardless of how the door was installed the van would not fit. I guess garage door height standards might be regional or perhaps the homes I have been looking at predate the 84" standard. Good advice about how the door is mounted though, I'll take that into consideration.

As for deflating the tires. My van is about 82 inches tall and the distance from the bottom of the tires to the rim is about 4 inches. So even if I completely deflated the tires I still wouldn't fit in most garages. Ugh
