Subject: another Friday question! repairing metal, NVC
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

I need to reattach two pieces of metal pipe, c. 3/4 inch diameter, to cross-bars - this is part of a futon frame. It has long metal pipes running the long direction, and cross-pieces running half the width of the bed. (It's in two pieces, since they fold to make the couch.) Two of the cross-pieces have broken and fallen out. Not good, they are next to each other, so the pressure on the adjoining pieces is greater and they are likely to break too.

I tried using JB Weld and it broke. Drat! That seemed way too easy...

Is there a simple way to do this? Do I solder it? do something else? I might be able to run something through the inside of the cross-pieces and then into the wider frame part, like another piece of metal, to kind of splint it. But that might not be possible - or probably only at one end.

Any suggestions? Please p-mail me, since this really has nothing to do with the list.

Thanks!

Joy
