So, after waaay more work than should've been involved, Totoro is running
smooth and quiet.


August 12th.
Started out resealing the heads. Got everything back together and broke a
head stud waaay down in the case.  Took engine out.


August 19 (apprx)
Took everything apart to drill out/helicoil.  Found a broken ring and then
a cracked liner.


August 20(appx)
Drill/helicoil, install new stud.  Decide against replacing the rest of
the studs.  They look good.


August 26(apprx)
Tracked down used piston/liner.


September 2(apprx)
Get used piston/liner.  Thanks Scott!


Wait two weeks for landlord to let me use his shop.


Sept 20
Start reassembly.  Install rings/pistons/liners.


Sept 22
Install head/water pump.


Oct 6
Move engine back to van. Install.


Oct 7
Finish hooking everything back up. No good idle,




Oct 13
Remove intake tubes, replace gaskets/injector seals.  Repair intake boot.
Starts up and purrs!  Woo hoo!  Tomorrow will be going back through
everything makeing sure it's all tight and correct.  Finally!  Thank you
to everyone with advice and help and parts.  Now my Bentley will show up
next week and I'll be set. I can't wait to give my loaner old Volvo back
to my neighbor.  I can't stand driving it.
