The only way to adjust the AFM is by using an exhaust "sniffer." If your mechanic just did it by feel, it needs to be done again.

I've been told that if you get these old vans idling really smoothly, there's something wrong--they're too rich. Reason: they were designed to run lean at idle to pass new emissions regulations, and that same leanness produces a slight misfire.
