It's called a pin-switch. It's for an alarm system (or whatever accessory you wire to it) and is available at most any car stereo shop for about 5 bucks. This one is called a flange-type, and fits the hole in the door perfectly using 1 screw to fasten it. You trim it to length after installation. I needed to remove the first plastic segment.

I used it for foot lights below the door on the outside. Handy when fumbling for shoes at midnight :)

I am working on installing an interior light that works off a pushbutton switch when the slider opens. I see there is a rectangular hole in the column above the door lock contacts and a matching round hole on the door. Was this an option, meaning I might be able to find the appropriate switch?
