And my experience has been that any air left in the pressure tank will eventually be expelled from the system, either through bleeding at the rad, or by the expansion/contraction through to the expansion tank. If this isn't happening, something may be wrong. I flush my coolant every two years, and have never had a problem getting the air out - usually only bleed the rad once or twice after a drive and that's it - the rest works itself out at the engine end. I find it is best to let the van sit for 15 minutes or more to let any air accumulate in the rad, then bleed it. There's still plenty of pressure after that time; too much pressure just makes a mess.
